Have you seen their house lately? It's really gone to the dogs. 
It's true that it has become run-down and in serious need of repair, but I'm sure that it can be fixed up to look like new.

The paradox of our age

 We have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families; more degrees, but less sense; more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too much, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, pray too seldom and watch too much TV.

We have increased our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often. We have learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years. We've been to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. we've done larger things, but not better things; we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've split the atom, but not our prejudice; we've write more, but learn less; plan more, but do less. We've learned to rush, but not wait; we've higher incomes, but lower morals; more food, but less peace; more acquaintances, but fewer friends; more effort, but less success.

These are the time of fast food and slow digestion; tall men and short character; high profits and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but internal warfare; more leisure and less happiness; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN. The only question asked was: would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world.

The survey was a huge failure!  In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant. In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant. In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant. In South America they didn't know what "please" meant. In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.

Good teachers:

• love what they teach and convey that love to the class.
• have both an enthusiasm for and an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject.
• have such an obvious enthusiasm for what they do that it is contagious and their students pick up on it.
• have a desire to learn, and for others to learn, all of the exciting things they have learned.
• are obviously excited about teaching. When a teacher enjoys teaching, it is usually obvious, and that enjoyment is passed on to the students.

!The strange relations

,Many many years ago, when I was twenty three

                   ,I married to a widow who was pretty as can be                                              This widow had a grown up daughter who had hair of red

My father fell in love with her, and soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-low and changed my very life,

My daughter was my mother, cause she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matter even though it brought me joy,

I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby became a brother-in-low to dad,

And also became my uncle, though it was very sad.

Father's wife then had a son, who kept him on the run,

And he became my grandchild, for he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother, and it makes me blue,

Because although she's my wife, she's my grandmother too.

 ,If my wife is my grandmother, then I'm her grandchild,

And every time I think of it, it nearly drives me wild.

And now I have become the strangest case I ever saw,                               As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa

When I was a puppy, I entertained you and made you laugh. You called me your child, and I become your best friend. Whenever I was "bad", you'd shake your finger at me and ask:" how could you?"

I remember those nights of listening to your secret dreams and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs" you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, and was overjoyed at your homecoming, and then you fell in love.

She, now your wife, is not a "dog person". Still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy.

Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time imprisoned in another room. Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a "prisoner of love." As they began to grow, I became their friend. I loved everything about them and their touch-because your touch was now so infrequent-and I would have defended them with my life if need be.

I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway.

But one day you forgot all beautiful days we had lived together and took me to an animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said:" I know will have a good life here."

You did not understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog. You gave no attention to your son's begging as he screamed "no, daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!"

And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life. You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take me with you.

After you left, the two nice ladies said you knew about your upcoming decision months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked…"How could you ?"
